If your wisdom teeth are causing pain, swelling, or pressure and you live or work at Pope Field or anywhere on the Fort Liberty installation, The Teeth Doctors is a short drive south on Yadkin Road. Dr. Jeremiah Davis is a former US Army captain who served in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, and the practice he built around that background offers a careful, deliberate approach to wisdom teeth surgery with three sedation options under one roof.
Wisdom teeth care for Pope Field service members and families
Pope Field has been part of the Fort Liberty installation since the 2010 BRAC consolidation, and the 43rd Airlift Wing and US Air Force Reserve operations there mean a meaningful share of our military patients trace their service back to the airfield rather than the larger Army installation. The practice has worked with active duty service members, retirees, dependents, and Department of Defense civilians from both sides of the post for years.
Wisdom teeth procedures fit naturally with how we work. Appointments are coordinated around duty schedules, deployment timelines, and recovery windows that need to fit around training and travel. Most patients are home the same day and back to normal activity within a week.
About Dr. Jeremiah Davis: a former 82nd Airborne captain still serving the post
Dr. Davis served as a captain in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg before building this practice. His clinical credentials are unusual for a general practice:
- Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD), held by fewer than 2% of US general dentists
- Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology (DABOI/ID), one of only three dentists in North Carolina with this distinction
- Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (FAAID)
- Master of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (MICIO)
- Master of the Academy of Osseointegration (AO)
- Surgical Master of the Interdisciplinary Dental Education Academy, one of only two dentists in the US to hold this
Surgical extractions, sedation, and 3D jaw imaging are core to implant work, and Dr. Davis does that work daily. We handle straightforward and many complex impactions in-house. If your case is better routed to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, we will tell you directly.

When wisdom teeth need to come out
Third molars usually try to erupt between ages 17 and 25, the age range that captures most enlisted service members and their younger dependents. Common signals that they need evaluation: dull or sharp pain at the back of the jaw, swelling, recurring infections, food packing, pressure on neighboring teeth, or X-ray findings of impaction.
Sedation options for a comfortable visit
Three sedation paths are available:
- Nitrous oxide: light, wears off in minutes. You can drive yourself home.
- Oral sedation: prescribed medication taken before the visit. You will need a driver.
- IV sedation: deepest sedation we offer. You will likely have no memory of the procedure. You will need a driver and a companion at home for the first several hours.
What recovery looks like
Procedures usually take 45 to 90 minutes. Most patients return to a normal routine within three to five days for straightforward cases. You leave with written aftercare instructions and a phone number to call if anything is off. We will give you a realistic answer at the consultation about how the recovery will fit around your duty schedule.

Common questions about wisdom teeth extraction
How do I know if my wisdom teeth need to come out?
Pain at the back of the jaw, swelling, recurring infections, pressure, or partial eruption are common signals. People without symptoms may still benefit from removal if X-rays show impaction or future risk. A consultation will give you a clear answer.
Will this affect my deployment readiness?
Handled before issues become chronic, wisdom teeth extraction supports rather than disrupts your dental readiness classification. We document treatment for your records and can coordinate with your post dental clinic if needed.
Do you accept TRICARE?
We work with patients carrying TRICARE and other military-related dental coverage. Call (910) 864-4646 with your specific plan information so we can verify benefits before your visit.
Are all four wisdom teeth removed at once?
Often, yes. A single appointment under sedation consolidates the recovery into one window.
What does it cost?
Cost depends on the number of teeth, the surgical complexity, and your sedation choice. We provide a written estimate at the consultation. We accept most dental insurance, offer CareCredit financing, and have an in-house Friends and Family Membership Plan.
