If you or a family member needs a tooth removed and you are stationed at or live near Fort Liberty (officially renamed back to Fort Bragg in February 2025, though many in the community still use Fort Liberty), The Teeth Doctors is one of the closest practices off-installation that handles complex extractions in-house. We are at 6402 Yadkin Road, less than 10 minutes from the All American Freeway / Reilly Road gate. Dr. Jeremiah Davis performs simple and surgical extractions with full sedation options, same-week appointments for most cases, and a written treatment plan you understand before anything begins.

Why Service Members and Their Families Choose Dr. Davis
An 82nd Airborne veteran who knows this community
Dr. Jeremiah Davis is a US Army veteran who served with the 82nd Airborne Division. He knows what a busy soldier's schedule looks like, what a PCS timeline means for dental treatment planning, and how to work around field exercises and deployments. He also understands what it means to need treatment that is done right the first time, with no follow-on referrals to a third party. This is not theoretical. He has lived it.
Surgical credentials that matter for extractions
Most extractions are simple. The complicated ones are where credentials matter. Dr. Davis holds:
- Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology / Implant Dentistry (DABOI/ID)
- Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (FAAID)
- Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD)
- Master of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (MICOI)
- Master of the Academy of Osseointegration (AO)
- Surgical Master of the Interdisciplinary Dental Education Academy
- Dawson Academy Scholar
These credentials reflect years of additional surgical training beyond a standard dental degree. They matter for complicated extractions, for bone grafting cases, and for any extraction that will be followed by an implant.
Types of Tooth Extractions We Perform
Simple extractions
Performed on teeth that are fully visible above the gumline with straightforward root anatomy. Local anesthetic, gentle loosening, and removal. Most simple extractions are done in 15 to 30 minutes.
Surgical extractions
Needed when a tooth is broken at the gumline, has fused or unusual roots, or is impacted below the gum or bone. These cases involve a small gum incision and sometimes removal of a small amount of surrounding bone.
Wisdom tooth removal
Third molars are evaluated case by case. Some can stay. Others cause crowding, decay in adjacent teeth, or chronic gum infection. Most patients have all needed wisdom teeth removed in a single visit under IV sedation.
Multiple-tooth extractions
Common in cases of widespread decay, severe periodontal disease, or as the surgical phase of a full-arch implant treatment. Careful planning makes the experience predictable.
What to Expect at Your Tooth Extraction Visit
Consultation and imaging
Your first visit includes a focused exam and digital X-rays. For complex cases, a 3D cone beam scan gives Dr. Davis a clear view of the tooth and the surrounding bone. This is also when sedation, medical history, and the post-extraction plan are discussed.
Day of procedure
Plan to arrive a few minutes early. You will be brought back, numbed (and sedated if you have chosen that path), and the extraction is performed. Gauze is placed, post-op instructions are reviewed, and you head home. Most patients are in and out within 90 minutes.
Follow-up
A check-in is scheduled based on the complexity of your case. If a bone graft or future implant is part of your plan, you leave with the timeline mapped out.
Sedation Options for Anxious Patients
Our Worry Free from A to Z approach gives you four levels of sedation, matched to your case and your comfort:
- Local anesthetic alone
- Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
- Oral sedation
- IV sedation
If you are returning to duty or have responsibilities at home after the procedure, Dr. Davis will help you choose the sedation that lets you recover on the timeline that fits.
Healing and Aftercare
First 24 hours
A blood clot forms in the socket within the first few hours. Protect it. Keep gauze in as instructed, skip straws, eat soft foods, and rest with your head slightly elevated.
Days two through seven
Swelling and soreness peak around day two and improve from there. Over-the-counter pain medicine handles most cases. Rinse gently with warm salt water starting 24 hours after the procedure. Skip smoking and hard physical exertion until cleared.
When to call us
Call (910) 864-4646 if you experience unusual swelling, bleeding that has not slowed after several hours, fever, or sharp pain that worsens around day three or four. The last symptom can indicate dry socket, which is uncomfortable but easily treated in our office.
Cost, Insurance, and Military Plans
Tooth extraction cost depends on the type of extraction, sedation, and any related procedures like bone grafting. Dr. Davis will provide a clear written estimate at the consultation before anything is scheduled.
[Client to confirm: specific language on TRICARE Dental Program participation, MetLife Federal Dental, United Concordia, or other military-affiliated plans. If the practice is in-network for any of these, name them. If the practice is out-of-network but files claims, say so. If the practice does not work with TRICARE at all, recommend the nearest base resources or in-network providers instead of leaving the question unanswered.]
For patients without insurance or with limited coverage:
- The Friends and Family Membership Plan covers preventive care and offers real discounts on treatment, including extractions.
- CareCredit offers third-party financing with promotional periods to spread payments over time.
If cost is a concern, please bring it up. There are almost always more options than a patient expects.

Fort Liberty Tooth Extraction FAQs
How long does a tooth extraction take?
A simple extraction is usually 15 to 30 minutes. Surgical extractions and wisdom teeth typically run 30 to 60 minutes. Multiple-tooth cases take longer.
Will the extraction hurt?
The procedure itself should not hurt. The area is fully numbed before any instrument touches the tooth. Patients who choose IV sedation often have no memory of the procedure. Soreness once the anesthetic wears off is managed with the medication regimen you go home with.
Do you accept TRICARE?
Call (910) 864-4646 and our front desk can verify your specific plan coverage.
How quickly can I return to duty or work?
It depends on the type of extraction and your role. Desk work is usually fine the next day. Physical training and field work typically require several days, longer for surgical extractions. Dr. Davis will give you a specific return-to-duty window at the consultation.
Do I need a ride home?
Only if you have chosen oral or IV sedation. Patients with local anesthetic alone or nitrous oxide can drive themselves home.
What if I am PCSing soon and need treatment fast?
Call (910) 864-4646 and let us know your timeline. We will fit you in as quickly as possible and structure your plan around your move date.
